Do you love to knit but drag your feet when it comes to sewing up your projects? Would you like your finished garments to look more professional?  Or is your perfect pattern the one that doesn’t call for picking up stitches? If so, this 2-part workshop is for you. We’ll learn how to pick up stitches for collars and button bands, sew seams invisibly using the mattress stitch, fit in sleeves, make buttonholes, shape shoulders using short rows and more. There will be a small amount of knitting homework to complete before the first class. Plus, you will need to bring a project with you that needs finishing. Please note: tuition includes a copy of the book Finishing Techniques for Hand Knitters.

Learn to Knit Workshop
Tuesday, September 7 & Tuesday, September 14                                       6:00 – 8:00 pm
OR Wednesday, September 8 & Wednesday, September 15               9:30 am – 11:30 am
£40 per person

If you have always wanted to learn to knit (or would like to refresh what you learned way back in school), join us for this fun beginner class. Instead of working on a scarf project that takes forever to finish, we will make fingerless gloves – just in time for cooler weather and a perfect Christmas present for someone special. You will learn to cast on, knit, purl, increase, cast off  and sew up. And we promise you’ll soon be knitting and chatting at the same time! Plan to arrive early for the first class so you can pick out your yarn and needles. Please note: tuition includes a copy of The Knitters’ Handbook.

Knitting with Beads
Saturday, September 18                                                                             10:00 am – Noon
£15 per person

Learn how to add colour and sparkle to your knitting with beads in this fun 2-hour workshop. We'll discuss choosing the right beads for your yarn and learn how to thread the beads on, read a chart and place beads in your knitting two different ways while making a bookmark. By the end of the class, you will be ready to use beads to embellish a hat, scarf, gloves or cardigan.

Learn to Crochet Workshop
Tuesday, October 5 & Tuesday, October 12                                                  6:00 – 8:00 pm
OR Wednesday, October 6 & Wednesday, October 13                         9:30 am – 11:30 am
£40 per person
This two-week course is for the complete beginner. You will learn how to hold a crochet hook and the yarn, make chains and work two very useful crochet stitches, double and treble crochet. You will make a dishcloth in the class, practice crocheting in the round and develop the confidence to tackle more complicated projects and build your skills. Please note that tuition for this class includes a copy of Crochet Unraveled.

Introduction to Moebius Knitting
Tuesday, October 19 & Tuesday, October 26                                                6:00 – 8:00 pm

OR Wednesday, October 20 & Wednesday, October 27                       9:30 am – 11:30 am

£35 per person
Welcome to the magical (and addictive) world of moebius knitting where your knitting grows outward instead of longer (this will make perfect sense at the workshop). We’ll learn Cat Bordhi’s moebius cast-on method and knit an elegant lacey cowl with a half twist, which would make a great Christmas present if you can bear to part with it. You will also learn to work in the round and read a chart. Tuition includes a copy of Yarn Forward July 2010, which contains the cowl pattern.

Sew Your Own Knitting Needle Roll
Friday, October 29                                                                                  10:00 am – 3:00 pm
£30 per person
Can’t find a case that fits all of your knitting needles or crochet hooks just right? Or are you looking for one in a fabric that’s just a little more you? Learn to sew your own (or make the perfect Christmas present for a knitting friend) in this one-day workshop with Fiona Brockie. Please note: you will need to bring your own sewing machine (and know how to use it) as well as your knitting needles (or crochet hooks) to ensure a perfect fit.

Knitting Socks From the Toe Up
Tuesday,  November 9 & Tuesday, November 16                                         6:00 – 8:00 pm
OR Wednesday, November 10 & Wednesday, November 17               9:30 am – 11:30 am

£40 per person
Most sock patterns go from the cuff down. But knitting socks from the toe up means no grafting! Plus, you can try on the sock as you knit and you won’t run out of yarn before the foot is finished. And many knitters swear that toe-up socks just plain feel more comfortable, too. This workshop is suitable for knitters who already know how to knit socks from the cuff down (whether you use dpns or circular needles) and those who haven’t tried knitting socks before. And it’s the perfect excuse to use colourful, self-striping sock yarn.  Tuition includes a copy of the reference book Toe-Up 2-At-A-Time Socks.
